Integrated Bekok Oil Project (PM9 Simplification)

MECIP was engaged to provide Pipeline Detailed Engineering Design (DED) services for the Integrated Bekok Oil Project under the PM9 Production Sharing Contract (PSC) development in the Malay Basin, offshore Peninsular Malaysia. The project formed part of a strategic brownfield asset optimization initiative aimed at enhancing production efficiency, maximizing existing infrastructure utilization, and extending the operational life of offshore facilities.
The scope involved the detailed engineering design of a new subsea gas pipeline system to integrate and simplify hydrocarbon transportation between existing offshore platforms within the PM9 field development area. The project required comprehensive engineering assessments, pipeline routing studies, tie-in designs, subsea interface engineering, and integration with existing offshore production facilities while maintaining safe and uninterrupted operations.
Leveraging its multidisciplinary engineering expertise, MECIP delivered detailed pipeline engineering solutions covering mechanical, pipeline, structural, process, instrumentation, and safety disciplines. Particular attention was given to brownfield integration challenges, constructability requirements, offshore installation considerations, and compliance with applicable international offshore design standards.
The project supports the optimization of offshore production infrastructure by improving operational flexibility, reducing facility complexity, and enhancing long-term asset reliability. Through effective engineering design and risk management, MECIP contributed to the successful development of a cost-effective and sustainable solution for one of Malaysia’s key offshore oil and gas assets.
